Come on in, the water is great!
Hello and welcome to our blog here at Bella Vista. We hope to share with you our love of the beautiful Myrtle Beach area!
And while you can get the scoop on all the things to do and see here from the local visitor center and its fantastic digital Visitor Guide, we'd like to share with you what we've personally enjoyed here ourselves, plus some information that can help make your stay a wonderful one, including packing tips and suggestions for easy meals to cook at Bella Vista, if you decide to stay put one night.
We definitely want to hear from you - what you tried and loved, and what was just meh. Would love to get your comments in this and future posts.
A little about us
We are Bill & Iris Dickinson and we met our very first weekend of college in New York and just over 10 years later we married and moved down south to North Carolina. In the 14 years since our migration south, we've had two kids, one is now a middle schooler and the other is in elementary school. We also have a COVID puppy, a Havanese named Elvis.
How we got here
We've been fortunate to be able to travel the world and the destinations that usually involve repeat visits include stops by the ocean... we are definitely beach people! Drawn to the water, we've been to beaches mostly on the East Coast from Newport and the Hamptons, to Fenwick Island, and down to Carolina Beach and Hilton Head. We also enjoy spots on the Gulf Coast, namely Siesta Key and Lido Key in Sarasota, Florida. Further afield, other great beaches we have visited include Palm Beach in Aruba, Waikiki in Hawaii, and the impeccable white sands of Boracay in The Philippines.
Fortunately, our kids are 'beach people' too and when we began searching for our 'home base' beach, we knew that Myrtle Beach would come out on top. From its prime location and family-friendly attractions to its wide variety of dining options and great year-round weather, we knew it was a place we would want to return year after year. We found Bella Vista and now we want to share it with you.
Make Bella Vista your home away from home
We've enjoyed waking up to the first slivers of light above the horizon, enjoying a cup of coffee on the balcony as the sun finally rises, watching the tide come in, hopping downstairs to the pool for a dip in the hot tub, taking a mid-afternoon nap and then prepping a cheese and cracker plate to enjoy on the beach, building sandcastles with the kids and jumping over waves as they roll on shore, hunting for seashells and sharks' teeth, and having friendly debates while trying to narrow down on a restaurant to head to for dinner... all of these moments we have had at Bella Vista, and these moments are the ones that make our experience here so wonderful.
We want you to be able to enjoy the fun, relaxation and connectedness that comes from these small, but meaningful, moments. Welcome to Bella Vista!
